NEW TO GEORGETOWN?

Even moving to such a great city like Georgetown has its downsides; you don’t know where anything is. Don’t worry. We have a solution.

Below you’ll find links to city data and some of our favorite places in Georgetown. Yes! We’re just that good.

WELCOME TO GEORGETOWN

Georgetown: it had to be named after George Washington, right? Wrong. Georgetown was named in honor of George Glasscock who donated the land for the town site in 1848. The settlers had every reason to be grateful to Glasscock for his generosity, because you couldn’t get much better than early Georgetown. There was harvestable timber all around, and good clear water in Lake Georgetown near the dirt-cheap, rich soiled land that was for sale. It was perfect, except for the native Tonkawa Indians, who were quickly dealt with.

Tennessee contributed settlers to Georgetown, as well as Kentucky, North Carolina, Arkansas, Illinois, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, and more. Everyone wanted to go to Georgetown, and Georgetown prospered. Southwestern University provided a higher education to those who wanted it in 1873.

Railroads brought a source of imports and exports into the town in 1878, which solidified Georgetown’s prosperous state as an agriculturally centered economy. Cattle and cotton went hand in hand for a long time. With the 1900s came the diversity of industrialization, and Georgetown swelled healthily. By 1980, the population was 9,468, with 4,500 others living in the area. Today, the population is well over 28,400, and Georgetown continues to prosper.

Office Barn enjoys helping successes succeed further, which is why we like Georgetown so much. Your office too is a success story. Let us help you go a little further in contributing to the fabric of Georgetown.
