GETTING TO KNOW COLLEGE STATION
College Station began with the Texas A&M University’s arrival in 1876. Named after the train station found near the college campus, the city began as facilities provided by the A&M administrators for their students. The official name ‘College Station’ was given to the growing community by the postal service in 1877.
Even then, the community’s center was always the A&M campus. Students swelled the little town’s population, and soon the idea of the City of College Station gripped the residents.
256 residents of College Station voted on the proposal to incorporate the City of College Station in 1938. The first City Council meeting was held in the Administration building of A&M in 1939.
Today, College Station grows with A&M. Businesses began by Aggies are run by Aggies and their products and services are bought by Aggies. Office Barn is proud to serve College Station.
